Pride march proves to be family affair

Besides DeGeneres and Gingrich, sister of House Speaker Newt Gingrich, speakers included Jon and Michael Galluccio of New Jersey, who recently became the first same-sex couple in America to jointly adopt a child. "When we heard all this about Myrtle Beach being a family town, we said, 'Well, let's pack up the kids and Nana and go down,’” said Jon Galluccio, who legally changed his last name to match his partner's. Wearing shirts that said “Father” and “Daddy,” they brought along Adam, the HIV-positive toddler they've adopted, and Madison, a 17-month-old girl they are in the process of adopting,. The children's grandmother also came along. “When people see us as a family, the myths fall apart,” Jon Galluccio said. “They see the way Adam behaves, that he says ‘Excuse me,’ when he burps. They see that he's got good values already.”
